Amitabha: Red Buddha of Infinite Light
“Why is this Buddha called Amitabha?” The answer was given that, “the brilliance of his light is measureless, illuminating the lands of the ten directions everywhere without obstruction.” Amitabha is a Sanskrit word that literally means, boundless light and boundless life. OM AH MI DE WA HRI According to the Buddhist teachings, the Buddha is a pure display of the Enlightened mind. The image is as though the Buddha himself/herself is present in the world. This does not refer necessarily to a physical body as much as it refers to the presence of the Enlightened Mind and the qualities it embodies. The Enlightened mind is an expression of the perfect development of Transcendent Wisdom and All-Encompassing Compassion.
May peace and kindness prevail.
