Immediately I notice the vibrant, contrasting colors, harmony and compliment. I feel a sense of rising, taking flight. I feel a sense of dissolution. Could it be the falling away of something old or the coming into form of something new? Could it be both?
I see an invitation to look beyond our ordinary perceptions. Our sight sharpened by experience, what do we see? With the keen vision of the wise old owl, do we dare look into the shadows? Curious, questioning, is there a willingness to look with new eyes? I love the golden moon behind the owl’s head, accentuating the intensity of its gaze. The owl invites us to a sense of boldness and focus. Riveting me in the moment, an invitation to presence.

“It is one of lifes finest experiences when a spark, born in the heart,
grows into a flame … a flame that forges a bond of Love.”
Shey Khandro has a profound respect for vows made from the heart. As a wedding officiate, she holds space for the love and immeasurable joy present in the moment to deepen and flourish.
Inviting each of us into ceremony, we celebrate you and the special Love you share as you step onto the path of marriage.
Shey Khandro’s deepest wish is to nourish and inspire the hearts and minds of others. Fifteen years as a Buddhist nun in the Tibetan tradition, she brings profound spiritual training to all she does. She is committed to living from her heart, her journey inspires others to do the same. Her unique life experiences provide a deep dimension to her education and training.
As fine artist, renowned speaker, philosopher & poet Sherab Khandro will inspire you to take a visionary look at our world and move beyond your perceived limitations. She shares her thoughts about the power each of us have to make a positive difference in our own lives and the lives of others; to transform each moment, bringing it alive with purpose and passion. As an inspirational speaker, she disarms audiences with her humor and personal stories, engaging groups large and small.
Celebrated Pointillist Painter and Sculptor, she is one of the early western artists to receive formal training from exiled Tibetan masters living in the United States in bringing forth this traditional art in a way that honors how it has been done in Tibet for centuries. Using the neo-impressionist style of pointillism in her paintings, tiny dots of color create rich and vibrant imagery. Utilizing the intent of her vow as a Bodhisattva, a vow taken by Buddhists to return until all suffering has come to an end, each stroke of the brush holds a prayer of compassion. Each dot is offered as a jeweled universe, a prayer to end suffering in the world.
Her sculptures can be seen as part of numerous sacred Buddhist monuments called stupas, in private collections and galleries. She served as the Spiritual Arts director for Kunzang Palyul Choeling, a Tibetan Buddhist center for practice and study in Maryland and Arizona, USA.
Recognized nationally and internationally, Sherab Khandro calls Sedona, AZ home while making regular extended visits to New York. Her work can be seen at Goldenstein Gallery in Sedona and online. She loves to travel, speaking and showing her work around the country.
Follow the Peace Trail throughout the month of September with a series of free events focused on peace – peace in our hearts, peace in our world. In honor of “Peace Day 2019” we will share guided meditations, music, discussions, ceremony and inspiration as together we reflect on creating a more peaceful and compassionate world.
“Peace Day,” or the International Day of Peace, is observed around the world. Every year on 21st September, the United Nations calls on all nations and people to put down their weapons and reaffirm their commitment to living in harmony with one another. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a culture of peace.
“We want to create an opportunity to reflect on these ideals together, to consider who we are in a world at peace,” says local peace advocate Shey Khandro. In conjunction with Goldenstein Gallery’s citywide art exhibition, “Every Day Peace,” we have scheduled a series of free events focused on peace. These events include guided meditations, conversation and the inspiration of the arts. Together we will focus on building our own personal peace practices.
Each gathering will acknowledge some of the many local organizations in support of peace through their everyday practices. There will be opportunities to educate and inspire each of us as together we pave a path to peace.
The Peace Trail offerings begin on Sunday, September 1, 11:30-1:30 pm at Aumbase Yoga & Sound with a guided meditation by Shey and chanting and sound healing with Sanjali (Valerie Irons). At this event we will discuss aspects of sustainability, composting and reducing plastic use in the home. We will also honor the valuable work of Twice Nice/Verde Valley Sanctuary.
Monday, September 2 will be the first in a series of 5 live stream meditations focused on cultivating our personal peace practice. Each Monday morning in September from 9-9:30 am we will live stream meditations lead by Shey Khandro from the Goldenstein Gallery.
Friday, September 6, 5-8, we continue our reflection at Goldenstein Gallery with the “Every Day Peace” artist reception.
Please join us as we seek to empower peaceful solutions, cultivate compassion and inspire action one small act at a time.
